Large Bearing
Burgess BLA was called out to Ravenswood in North Queensland to a trunnion bearing failure on Ball Mill #2. BLA mobilised personnel from both Kalgoorlie and Townsville with the focus to get the plant up and running ASAP.
BLA arrived onsite with their fully equipment mobile workshop and commenced work on the massive 248/1800 feed end trunnion roller bearing. The cradles were installed, the mill was jacked, the bearing was removed and ready for SKF to inspect the bearing journal and housing.
All refurbishment work was completed and the new bearing installed utilizing BLA designed drive up attachment. The mill was completely reassembled and the mill was put back into production.
Today BLA carry out routine bearing inspections and grease analysis on all the large bearings at Ravenswood reducing the possibility of bearing failure in the future.
