Overhaul
Burgess BLA in Townsville have completed a number of gearbox rebuilds for Queensland Nickel with the most recent one being a large Lightning Mixer.
BLA carried out a thorough visual inspection of the gearbox upon arrival. All components were photographed and documented. All components were disassembled carefully documenting each component as it came apart, followed by a thorough clean. A full strip and inspection report was submitted with a Budget Estimate for the repair.
All painted items were blasted and painted to the correct codes. Crack detection was carried out on all components. The gearbox was fully assembled and test run for eight hours to check for vibration, temperature and/or oil leaks. A transport frame was manufactured so that the gearbox was transported without damage. It was prepared for long term storage. A full comprehensive report was completed and sent to site.
