Cracow Upgrade Project - Remove Refurbish Install

Installation
Burgess BLA was contracted by Como Engineering to remove the ball mill from the old Telfer plant in WA to Cracow in QLD.

The project consisted of removing the mill out of Telfer’s old gold treatment plant. Refurbishment of all components was carried out at BLA Overhaul & Rebuild Facility in Kalgoorlie. All components were then transported to Cracow QLD and where BLA installed the mill.

When BLA arrived on site all that was in place was the concrete foundations with centre lines marked. BLA surveyed the centerlines to make sure that they were correct, then set the subsoles to the required height. All the sole plates were installed, set on centre line and the bolts tightened. Both trunnion bearing housings were lifted into position and set on centre. The mill was lifted in, the girth gear installed and aligned, the pinion was aligned to the highest point of the gear and all remaining components of the drive were installed and aligned. The mill was commissioned without any issues. The installation was completed by the Burgess BLA crew from Townsville.

Today Burgess BLA continues to carry out maintenance for Newcrest Cracow on a regular basis.
