Overhaul
Burgess BLA has had an extensive involvement with Higginsville Mine 60 kms from Norseman in Western Australia.
The main mill drive gearbox developed a fault on one of the bearings, this was diagnosed with condition monitoring. The gearbox was changed out by BLA site services, and the old gearbox was shipped to BLA overhaul & rebuild facility in Kalgoorlie for repair.
After a thorough inspection of the gearbox there were several faults diagnosed. These issues were resolved with discussions between BLA, the client and OEM to come up with a solution to improve the operational life circle of the machine. The gearbox was overhauled, test run, mounted to a transport frame with false brinelling devices attached. The gearbox was then prepared for long term storage and sent back to site. A comprehensive report was completed and sent out to the client.
